Is Apple secretly developing the iPhone 8 in Israel?

Apple is using a site in Israel to develop hardware for the iPhone 8, according to a local employee.

According to the anonymous staffer, the site in Herzliya, Israel works on all of the new products in Apple’s development line. Supposedly, the site works on the hardware and is responsible for producing chips, storage, cameras and wireless technologies.  In a move that’s guaranteed to get the rumour mill whirring, the same employee used the term “iPhone 8” in a conversation with Business Insider. This is interesting considering the next iPhone should be named the iPhone 7s, at least according to Apple’s current naming convention.

Suspicion that the next iPhone will break Apple sequencing tradition has been spiking since the release of the iPhone 7. The jump from the iPhone 6s Plus to the iPhone 7 was incremental and such small changes are usually reserved for updates to S models. For this reason many are expecting a major overhaul of the iPhone range when the ‘iPhone 8’ is finally released.

What’s more, the next iPhone will be Apple’s 10th model – the general consensus is that it will be named along the lines of iPhone 10 or iPhone X.

The source also said that the new phone would have a better camera than the iPhone 6s and the iPhone 7. Other rumoured updates include an edge-to-edge display. If true this would remove the home button bezel. Of course, nothing has actually be confirmed yet, so it’s best to take it with a pinch of salt.
