Is Apple already killing the iPhone 7 and going all-in on the iPhone 8?

When Apple released the iPhone 7 back in September, there was intense debate about whether it was worth buying or waiting until the iPhone 8, a potentially much larger overhaul.

Well, according to reports on Thursday, Apple may have determined enough customers are playing the long game.

Digitimes reports (via MacRumors) Apple is trimming orders from suppliers amid waning demand for this year’s devices.

Those loose-lipped supply chain sources have been speaking out of turn again, this time claiming the initial flurry to obtain those Jet Black iPhone 7 Plus models is starting to fade.

The sources say, suppliers have ‘been shifting their focus’ towards the next-generation, 10th anniversary iPhone which will arrive next autumn.

Rumours have suggested Apple will revamp the phone’s design, with edge-to-edge OLED displays, glass casing as well as finally introducing the ability to wirelessly charge the device.

While we can’t verify the accuracy of today’s report, we find it unlikely that Apple has given up on the iPhone 7 with three quarters still to go until the next launch cycle begins.

Also, the 7 Plus models are still pretty difficult to come by with most models on back order in the run up to Christmas.

However, there’s no doubting the iPhone 7, minus a headphone jack and with a new click-less Home button, has endured a tough critical reception.

A couple of months back we debated the merits of purchasing the iPhone 7 now or hanging fire until the all-important iPhone 8?
