Rumours of a larger MacBook Air have been swirling around
for quite a while now, and this week those rumours have been given more
credence with reports coming out of Japan.
Website Macotakara is reporting that Apple is in the midst
of working on a new 15in MacBook that will feature an ultra-slim design similar
to the 11in and 13in models. However it remains unclear as to whether or not the
Apple recently refreshed its MacBook Pro line-up but it was
limited to tweaks to the speed, video and storage capabilities. A more radical
refresh had been rumoured as far back as July, but we’re now unlikely to see
the slim 15in model until the new year.
Adding the new 15in model to the Air line-up would almost certainly mean
losing the optical drive seen on all Pro models. With the MacBook range
discontinued earlier this year, Apple seems to be moving towards integrating
all its laptop offerings into a single line-up.
Do you think that a 15in MacBook Air is the way forward or
will the necessary loss of features mean it just won’t be able to do what you want
it to? Let us know in the comments.
