If you’d told us a decade ago we’d be reporting on a purported leaked iPhone packaging insert we’d have told you we’d gone crazy.
So, this is Chris Smith reporting to you from a heavily padded room with new rumours suggesting an alleged insert from the iPhone 8 packaging could give away the final design.
The image from Slashleaks (which is doing a bang up job of trawling Weibo these days) apparently shows an outline of the handset, with a near-bezel-less design and no sign of the home button.
That ties in with everything we’ve seen lately, from computer renders to, leaked cases, to schematics and everything to be seen.
It’s also an insert we’ve seen within iPhone packaging before, explaining to users how to insert their SIM cards into the tray.

However, it does seem to be a little early for a packaging leak and it’s highly plausible this could have been knocked up on Photoshop in about ten minutes by any old Tom, Dick or Harry.
So, naturally we’ll be taking this with a pinch of salt.
At this point it’s not entirely clear whether Apple has even finalised the design for the iPhone 8.
Rumour has it the firm is still trying to optimise an in-display fingerprint sensor to compensate for the loss of Touch ID in the dearly departed home button.
So, we await an announcement, likely in September, with bated breath. Until that point the madness of iPhone 8 rumours is likely to intensify.
