The iPhone 7 has only been on sale a couple of weeks… which means it’s time to start thinking about the iPhone 8 again.
Noted analyst Ming-Chi Kuo of KGI Securities has added more weight to the suggestion the next-generation Apple handset will make what’s old new again.
Specifically Kuo reckons there’ll be glass panels on the front and rear of the device, with stainless steel making up the frame (via 9to5Mac).
This was a design last used by Apple for the iPhone 4 and iPhone 5 ranges, although any such implementation within the iPhone 8 would likely look much different.

According to Kuo up to 35% of global iPhone 7 pre-orders have been for the jet black model.
Using glass again could enable to add gloss to all color variants of the handset, without the low yield rate of the current jet black aluminium solution fawned over at the Apple keynote earlier this month.
While that theory is all well and good, it remains to be seen whether glossy gold and glossy pink iPhones would be as attractive to consumers as the jet black model.
Kuo also says there’ll be different type of glass deployed, with 2.5D glass more resilient to edge drops than the current 3D glass.
The analyst, who has a better track record than most in these circumstances, also says a stainless steel frame could be reserved for a higher-end model.
