New iPhone 7 ‘Rumour’ – Boring phone will be boring
A new iPhone 7 rumour has served to highlight how boring its design could be.
There have been several high profile reports in recent weeks suggesting that this year’s iPhone 7 won’t be the radical redesign many had initially expected. In fact, it could look an awful lot like the iPhone 6S.
As if to ram home how uninspired Apple’s new design is shaping up to be, a fresh rumour from Japanese website Mac Otakara (via MacRumours) carries the extraordinary claim that Apple is moving the proximity sensor and expanding the earpiece on the front of the device.
Stop the press, eh?
These changes are apparently causing LCD film makers a bit of a headache (stay with us here), as existing films won’t be compatible with the new iPhone (okay, you can go).
All joking aside, the iPhone 7 design shouldn’t be completely free of interest. For one thing, it seems likely that Apple will be doing away with the 3.5mm headphone jack. We’re still not convinced that’s going to be a good thing, but you can’t say it’s not interesting.

More positively, a number of reports claim that the iPhone 7 (or the iPhone 7 Plus, at least) will feature a dual-camera setup.
Other than that, and a slight change to the antenna design, we’re expecting the iPhone 7 to look much like the current model. The real radical stuff is set to happen with next year’s iPhone 8, which could be an all-glass number with no physical home button.
