Did the iPhone 7's battery spec just get revealed?

iPhone 7 and plus battery life

Apple is notoriously fickle when it comes to revealing certain iPhone specifications, including details of its battery cells, but a Chinese website may have just revealed all when it comes to the iPhone 7.

The listing on TENNA.com – a site that appears to be part e-commerce platform, part Chinese regulatory body – apparently shows the certification for the incoming iPhone 7, and there's one fine point we hadn't been privy to before – a 1,960mAh battery cell.

Spotted by noted mobile leaker @onleaks and shared on Twitter, the battery spec is unconfirmed, but would theoretically represent an incremental bump compared to the iPhone 6S, which packed a 1,715mAh unit.

How this translates into real world battery life remains to be seen, as a number of other factors – not least the consumption of Apple's new mobile OS, iOS 10 – will affect the device's stamina.

But if you simply wanted to be reassured that Apple had upped the battery spec with its latest devices – according to TENAA, the iPhone 7 Plus packs a 2,900mAh cell – this looks relatively reliable to our eye.
