The iPhone 6S could be even bigger than the iPhone 6, according to a new leak.

A new set of images suggest that the iPhone 6S will be a little larger than its predecessor.

According to the images, which come courtesy of MacRumours' "trusted" sources, the iPhone 6S is measuring up at 7.08mm thick.

Compare that to the 6.9mm iPhone 6 and it seems Apple's upcoming flagship isn't going to be quite as slim.

Previous leaks have suggested that both the iPhone 6S and the iPhone 6S Plus will feature the same Force Touch technology as the latest MacBook touchpads and the Apple Watch.

Earlier reports have said both upcoming handsets would only increase in thickness by 0.2mm from the additional though.

It seems from the photos that the iPhone 6S might also be a little taller than the iPhone 6. It measures up at 138.19mm tall, which is slightly taller than the iPhone 6's height of 138.1mm.

The width is also set to increase from 67.0mm to 67.88mm.

All in all that's an overall size increase of 3 per cent, which you might just notice.

Neither figure is exactly a major change in the design for the iPhone 6S, but it does makes us wonder what else Apple is shoving inside its next flagship.

The iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus are both due to launch at Apple's event on September 9.

Fractions of a millimeter? That's probably within the tolerance of most iPhone cases. Hardly a requirement for new jacket pockets! I know everyone loves a sensational headline, but come on...

I'm guessing most people won't, and if the increased size means it won't bend any more under heavy strain, I'm sure most people will welcome that.

It is widely known the new iPhone 6S is a little thicker for extra strength and a detailed analysis of the material options was revealed a few months ago. They don't want a repeat of bendgate and combined with a new aluminium alloy the 6S should be a lot stiffer
