iPhone 5se and iPad Air 3 to go on sale on March 18?

Apple is set to release a new 4-inch iPhone 5se and the latest iPad Air 3 on March 15, and fans might not have to wait very long to snap them up.

According to a 9to5Mac report, Apple will release the new devices for sale on Friday March 18, just three days after the rumoured big reveal.

There’s no plans for a pre-order period at present, the report says, with the firm going straight to online and in-store availability.

That strategy would represent a change in tack for Apple, with the firm generally offering at least a week for fans to register for their devices ahead of the release.

Apple will want to get the handsets out into the wild as soon as possible as it looks to drive off slowing iPhone growth.

The new 4-inch iPhone 5se is rumoured to boast an iPhone 6s like design as well as a TouchID fingerprint sensor and NFC for Apple Pay support.

Speculation suggested it’ll also include the latest generation Apple A9 and M9 processors and the camera from the iPhone 6S, meaning Live Photos will be possible.

On the iPad Air 3 side of things, Apple is reportedly preparing to add speakers to both ends of the device, a la the iPad Pro. The Apple Pencil may also be compatible with the new model.

Finally, Apple is expected to debut new versions of the first-gen Apple Watch with new band options. Some observers have taken the recent Apple Watch discounts as a sign a brand new device is on the way.
