iPhone 5S to be 31 percent faster than iPhone 5

The iPhone 5S and its A7 processor will be 31 percent faster than the iPhone 5 with its A6 processor, according to the latest internet rumour doing the rounds.

That’s the assertion of Fox News anchor Clayton Morris, who claims to have heard from his sources that the iPhone 5S chip will be “very fast.”

Of course, “very fast” is a relative term. For example, when the iPhone 5 launched last year, its A6 processor offered around twice the performance of the previous generation A5 found in the iPhone 4S. Compared to that, the A7’s 31 percent increase seems somewhat conservative.

Morris also tweeted that the iPhone 5S was set to come with a dedicated motion tracking chip, and that it would make for “an interesting camera upgrade.”

It’s believed that Apple will announce the iPhone 5S, alongside a more affordable iPhone 5C, at a special event on September 10.

While the iPhone 5S will in all likelihood look very similar to the iPhone 5 from the outside, it’s set to feature a number of noteworthy internal improvements. Besides a faster CPU, it could also boast a fingerprint scanner incorporated into the home button. Other rumours suggest a 13-megapixel camera with dual-LED flash.

Just recently we’ve seen the most extensive parts reveal for the iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C yet, with 68 pictures of the two handsets together leaked onto the internet.
