iPhone 5S pictures: Check out the new home button

Apple has officially launched the iPhone 5S and while it doesn’t look much different on the outside, inside it packs quite a punch.

Visually, the iPhone 5S bears a striking resemblance to the current iPhone 5.

That’s because it’s pretty much the same beast on the outside, apart from the new home button with integrated Touch ID fingerprint scanner.

Take a look at the new Apple flagship in all its official glory in the iPhone 5S pictures below.

iPhone 5S Features
The direct follow-on to the iPhone 5, the iPhone 5S was officially unveiled at a dedicated event held at Apple’s Cupertino campus on September 10.

It’s presented in the same 7.6mm thick brushed metal body as the iPhone 5, but is branded as “the most forward-thinking smartphone in the world, delivering desktop class architecture in the palm of your hand.”

“iPhone 5S sets a new standard for smartphones, packed into its beautiful and refined design are breakthrough features that really matter to people, like Touch ID, a simple and secure way to unlock your phone with just a touch of your finger,” says Apple Senior VP Phil Schiller.

The iPhone 5S is powered by a new A7 CPU that is more than 50 per cent faster than the A6 processor. Complementing this is a new M7 motion core processor which measures motion data to allow a range of fitness apps to offer more accurate user data.

Although the iPhone 5S retains the same 8-megapixels rear snapper as the iPhone 5, Apple has made some internal tweaking. Adding a sensor that is 15 per cent larger, the new iSight camera has a 5-element designed less, an f/2.2 aperture and optical image stabilisation. There’s also a new dual LED flash too.

Available in slate, silver and gold, the iPhone 5S release date has been set at September 20. Buying one SIM-free will set you back £549 for the 16GB model, £629 for 32GB and £709 for the 64GB option.
