The first hands-on video with a working iPhone 5C smartphone has leaked online, showing the web browsing capabilities of the heavily rumoured mid-range Apple handset.

Although the quality of the video is very poor, it’s the first glimpse we’ve had of a complete and fully functioning iPhone 5C, having only previous caught sight of the plastic rear casing in various colours.

Posted to a Chinese tech blog called C Technology, AppleInsider spotted the iPhone 5C hands-on video in all its pixelated glory.

Only 48 seconds long, the iPhone 5C video is limited to browsing the official Apple site and the iOS 7 launch page in Safari.

Operating on Wi-Fi, the Airplane Mode logo can just about be made out in the top left corner of the screen, while in the top right hand corner is Apple’s AssistiveTouch icon, which aids UI navigation.

From the brief video, it seems that gesture and scrolling controls, page loading speeds and other operation features are the same as in the current iPhone 5 flagship.

The iPhone 5C is rumoured to pack the same innards as the iPhone 5 but with a plastic outer casing to keep costs low, entering the market with a HTC One mini and Galaxy S4 mini rivalling £320 price tag.

Tipped to launch in 6-8 colours, if this video is correct, it should come with a black front to differentiate it from the 5th generation iPod Touch.

There has been a new image of the iPhone 5C doing the rounds today too, alongside the hands-on video. It shows off the iPhone 5C with an as yet unseen pink casing.

Previously, we’ve seen the plastic iPhone 5C pop up in blue, yellow, green, white and red colour options, but not the pink variation.

We’re not sure whether anyone would buy it, but it seems Apple is certainly trying to appeal to a different market.

Next, read why the iPhone 5C will ambush Apple's innovation.
