Foxconn head Terry Gou has commenced fighting talk, saying that the new iPhone 5 "will put Samsung's Galaxy S III to shame." As Foxconn is one of the key manufacturing companies behind Apple's goods, Gou is naturally about as biased as they come, but we say - commence fisticuffs.

According to China Times, Gou urged the general public to "wait for the launch of the iPhone 5" rather than opting for the recently-released Samsung Galaxy S3. He suggested that the match of the latest Sharp screen tech and Foxconn's manufacturing might will see it (with the help of Apple, naturally) topple Samsung within the next few years.

And, of course, this doesn't just relate to phones. The as-yet unannounced Apple TV has the potential to destroy Samsung's lead in the LCD TV market. In Q4 2011 Samsung claimed a chunky 23 per cent market share in the US, but an Apple product in this field would severely disrupt Samsung's successful box-shifting strategy.

Gou also made some slightly more controversial comments, saying in reference to Foxconn's strong relationship with Sharp, "I respect the Japanese and especially like their execution and communication styles. Unlike the Koreans, they will not hit you from behind."

The "Koreans" comment is a jab at Samsung, which he describes as having "a track record of snitching on its competitors." Samsung accused a number of competitors of TV panel price fixing in 2010.
