The iPhone’s 5 first stop on this month’s launch tour of less economically renowned nations, a South Korean iPhone 5 release date has today been confirmed for this Friday, December 7, with the iPhone 4S follow-on to touch down in over 50 more countries later in the month.
Currently available in 47 countries around the world, Apple is to more than double the collection of iPhone 5 hosting nations within a matter of weeks with the 4-inch handset to touch down in on 34 new territories on December 14 before hitting an additional 20 countries a week later on December 21.
With key nations such as Russia, China, UAE, Brazil and Saudi Arabia all given the nod for a December 14 iPhone 5 launch, smaller countries such as Kenya, Male, St. Kitts and Botswana are being forced to wait until jst before the year’s end to get their mitts on Apple’s latest smartphone offering.
The first iPhone device to do away with Apple’s longstanding 3.5-inch form factor and adopt and all new 4-inch design, the iPhone 5 is also the first Apple handset to come packing the new 8-pin Lightning port connector in favour of the aging 30-pin offering.
With the 4-inch Retina display providing stunning visuals thanks to a 640 x 1136p resolution and 326ppi image density, the iPhone 5 is further bolstered by the dual-core A6 processor and a revised 8-megapixel rear-mounted camera.
Wrapping this high-end collection of innards around one of the most attractive form factors on the market, the iPhone 5’s brushed metal backed design lines up at a mere 7.6mm thick and just 112g in weight.
