iPhone 4S Goes On Sale

Following its unveiling a couple of weeks ago, the iPhone 4S is finally available to buy, but for those who didn’t pre-order or begin queueing earlier this week, you may be out of luck.

The iPhone 4S is Apple’s latest offering in the smartphone wars and sees an evolution of its iPhone 4 with all the changes taking place internally including an upgraded processor, camera and battery.

It will also run iOS 5 which was launched earlier this week for certain iPhone, iPad and iPod touch models.

Queues began gathering outside the Apple store on Regent’s Street in London last Friday, a full week before the new handset launched – and thosde queueing have even been putting up some videos of their experiences (see below).

Even Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak is queueing to get his hands on an iPhone 4S, outsdie an Apple Store in Los Gatos, California. Woz tweeted that there was another guy there but unfortunately for him, he decided to queue on the wrong side of the door.

Since the phone was unveiled by Tim Cook a couple of weeks ago, we’ve seen that Siri, its intelligent voice recognition software, has been programmed to give some very interesting answers to your questions - which shows that Apple coders definitely do have a sense of humour.

Large queues of between 1,000 and 1,500 formed outside the Covent Garden Apple store ahead of the launch at 8am this morning. However with such large queues and huge pre-order numbers, the iPhone 4S could very soon become a rare commodity – for a few weeks at least.

Only yesterday Tesco Mobile was the latest network to unveil its pricing plan with some of the cheapest deals on offer - a 16GB model can be had on a £25-a-month 12 month contract for just £335. For a full round-up of all the deals available why not check out out comprehensive round-up of iPhone 4S deals.

We’ll be putting up our iPhone 4S review really soon but we also want to hear from you.

Have you been queueing to get your hands on an iPhone 4S or have you cleverly pre-ordered you phone and had it delivered in the post this morning? If so, let us know what you think about your new phone.

This is no reflection on Keithe6e at all

However it shows the state of society today when people think spending £800 on a phone is a good thing to do .....

( and I'm not saying I'm any better as I desperately want a Samsung Nexus )

My old mum would have quite rightly told me it was a complete waste of money - better to save it for something actually worth having ....

I havent paid for a phone for ages now. I wouldn't pay for a phone on top of £30 a month. Not worth it in my opinion.

Well, it's not £800 for a phone, as a smart phone without a Network plan would be useless.

The thing is, I use my phone for more than just ringing people. I'm using my phone in places in the past I'd use a computer. Did your mum also think £800 for a computer was a waste of money?. And the final point, I like gadgets, as such I'm willing to buy it, from my POV surely that makes it "something actually worth having", as I've said in the past if I bought something I didn't like, surely that's something "not worth having". :)
