iPad Pro could launch with optional stylus

Apple’s rumoured super-sized tablet, the iPad Pro, could launch with an optional stylus, according to a new report.

We’ve been expecting a larger version of the iPad to appear for some time now. The so-called iPad Pro will seemingly feature a 12.9-inch display (or possibly 12.2-inch) and a focus on high-end and business users.

According to KGI Securities analyst Ming-chi Kuo, the iPad Pro will also come with the option of a stylus accessory.

Apple Insider has reported on these claims, which come as a result of the emergence of numerous related patents alongside Kuo’s own prying into the matter. Kuo is well connected to Apple’s supply chain, and has a track record of success with such predictions.

Apparently, Apple will release a stylus to complement the iPad Pro some time in the second quarter of 2015.

The idea is to give more precision to high-level tablet tasks. Of course, Apple has worked hard to ensure that a stylus is not needed in previous versions of the iPad, which is probably why this new accessory will be released as an optional extra to start with.

It’s also pointed out that not bundling it with the new tablet as standard will help keep costs down. The iPad Pro is already set to be the priciest tablet in the range.

According to Kuo, Apple’s stylus won’t feature many additional features in its first iteration. He expects it to be a simple drawing tool at first, with things like 3D handwriting (allowing you to effectively draw in the air) to be added in subsequent versions.

Meanwhile charging should come via Apple’s lightning connector rather than any advanced wireless solutions.
