Is this Apple’s new iPad Pro (2016)? We’re not convinced

With a smorgasbord of iPhone 7 leaks to feast upon, it’s easy to forget that Apple has some other products too.

Apple’s next iPad Pro may have been given an early debut courtesy of an anonymous tipster. An image that seemingly depicts the 12.9-inch iPad Pro (2016) has been sent to specialist blog Apple Insider.

The image supposedly originates from “within a Chinese supplier currently working on an iPad Pro model scheduled to go into production in late September”. Naturally, that makes it impossible for us to verify the legitimacy of this image, so take this leak with due caution. Check it out.

The device pictured features the model number MH1C2CD/F, which isn’t used for any current or past iPad models. However, it’s a similar moniker to the ones used for the current 12.9-inch iPad Pro (ML0G2LL/A and ML3N2LL/A). The tablet is also apparently running on an iOS 10 beta developer build, released earlier this month. Other than that, there’s little else we can glean from the shot.

Apple is expected to launch new products at its annual event in September; a new iPad Pro could be amongst them. However, if this pictured iPad Pro is going into production in September then it’s unlikely to feature at the event.

In any case, today’s leak is very loosely sourced, so we have to take it with a pinch of salt. We won’t know any official details until autumn at the earliest.
