Apple has shown off the official cases for the iPad mini tablet, and predictably they’re just like the Smart Covers for the full-size iPad.
The iPad mini may be the baby of the Apple tablet family, but it’s getting the same treatment as its bigger brothers. The 7.85-inch screen tablet will have Smart Cover cases made for it, in six shades to start with, including white, slate, pink, green, red and blue.
It may look just like the Smart Cover of the full-size iPad, but the design is a little different. There’s no longer a metal hinge that grabs onto the tablet with the help of magnets. Instead, it’s a fabric wrap that fully encloses the tablet, presumably therefore protecting the rear as well as the front.
The iPad mini Smart Cover costs $39 in the US, suggesting that it’ll cost £25 in the UK.
Has the Smart Cover got you excited enough for the iPad mini to lay down £300? The iPad mini UK pre-order will go live this Friday, 26 October, will shipments to buyers starting on 2 November.
