iPad mini 2 shell leaks again
Just as the tech world hots up in anticipation for the September 10 iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C launch, a fresh shell component has leaked for the iPad mini 2.
It’s been a little under a month since we last featured an iPad mini 2 component leak, and this new new one appears to corroborate that last one.
Coming courtesy of arch-tipster Sonny Dickson, the above photo (as well as 19 others) appears to show the rear section of a brand new compact tablet from Apple. It’s the same machined component featured on a blog at the beginning of August.
These fresh snaps further suggest that the iPad mini 2 will sport a similar design to the stylish original. No bad thing, considering the first iPad mini brought a new level of sleekness to the compact tablet market less than a year ago.
Of course, we’re all hoping that the biggest change will come from that unshown front section. Recent months have seen so-called Apple experts vacillating over whether the iPad mini 2 will feature a true 7.9-inch Retina display, or whether it will stick with the original’s 1,024 x 768 resolution.
Current weight of opinion and rumour from the manufacturing floor suggests that the device will indeed sport a sharper screen, but we’ll let you know if the consensus changes.
An improved camera and processor should also be a given, and we’re expecting to see an official announcement on both the iPad mini 2 and iPad 5 in October.
