With an iPad Air release rumoured to be upon the horizon from Apple, pictures of a selection of iPad 5 cases suggest that the next iPad could feature an all new design.
The images depicting the new iPad 5 cases appeared on a Chinese global trade website named Alibaba, supplied by a company called Shenzhen Sinofly Electronic Company Limited.
Made from thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) and available in six colours, the cases show that the iPad 5 could have a dramatic design change akin to that of the iPad mini 2.
If the cases are legitimate, the reportedly upcoming iPad 5 could sport a reduced side bezel like the iPad Mini and a new speaker design and relocated microphone, moving from the top of the tablet to the rear of the device.
The iPad 5 would still retain the 9.7-inch iPad 4 screen size but could pack an IGZO screen panel, enabling the next-gen iPad to use a lower-capacity battery unit without losing any of its stamina. A technology developed by Sharp, the IGZO could also feature in the rumoured iPhone 5S.
The Apple A6X chip process of the iPad 4 could also get a performance boost, as the chip, although powerful is guilty of eating into the device's battery life.
The increasingly popular iPad Mini is also said to be getting an upgrade, with the iPad Mini 2 said to feature the Retina display screen with an iPad 4 rivalling 2,048 x 1536 resolution.
Whilst the iPad Mini 2 is said to be launching as soon as March this year, the iPad 5 release date will reportedly lie somewhere in September, exactly a year after the release of the iPad 4.
