iOS 9 will switch to data if Wi-Fi connection is poor

iOS 9

Apple’s new iOS 9 operating system will introduce a smart Wi-Fi Assist feature that will automatically revert to mobile data if the connection is poor.

The new tool, which can be found within the Cellular settings menu, was discovered in the latest iOS 9 Beta released on Thursday (via 9to5Mac).

The smart new feature is likely to be especially handy when users are on unreliable public Wi-Fi connections. It could also prevent the iPhone attempting to jump onto connections detected while users are out and about.

Elsewhere within the beta release Apple has added Wi-Fi Calling for users of the AT&T network.

There are also a few tweaks to CarPlay, including the ability to like songs by pressing a heart button. A host of new wallpapers and a Shuffle All option in the Music app is also included.
