iOS 7 game controller from Logitech leaks online

The first official images of the Logitech iOS 7 controller have leaked online, revealing a rather chunky design.

Known as the Logitech MFI or Made for iOS controller, the device is a wraparound gamepad for iPhone gaming.

Coming courtesy or notorious tipster @evleaks, the image show the Logitech MFI controller wrapped around an iPhone 5 running iOS 7.

The controller offers the usual array of traditional console controller buttons with the X,Y,A and B buttons on the right and a D-Pad on the left. There are two shoulder buttons are well as a pause key beneath the lettered buttons.

The Logitech MFI controller also has dual speakers on the right, utilising the in-built speakers of the iPhone 5 and what could be a power indicator on the left hand side by the D-Pad.

Design wise you’re looking at a very long and thin controller that doesn’t look that comfortable to use, although there are ridges on the textured rear of the device for easier grip.

Hardly fitting in with the sleek aesthetics Apple emphasises for its iPhones and iPads, these may well not be the final designs for the Logitech MFI controller, but it fits with the iOS 7 game controller plans confirmed by Apple in June.

However, during the 45-minute WWDC session Apple held to discuss its iOS 7 controllers, the plans Apple unveiled had dual analogue sticks and a duo of shoulder buttons as well.

Apple also outlined an additional “standalone extended gamepad” that isn’t connected to the device in any way and could be used for iPad iOS 7 gaming.

iOS 7 was released on September 18, two days before the iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C, and brought a refreshed interface for iOS devices and a host of new features.
