Intel beats Nvidia and AMD to PC Component of the Year at the #TrustedReviewsAwards

And PC Component of the Year goes to… the Intel Skylake.

Intel’s standard-setting processor has claimed the top award at the TrustedReviews Awards 2015, beating competition from the Nvidia GeForce 980 Ti graphics card and AMD’s Radeon R9 Fury Nano graphics card.

The Intel Skylake Processor impressed this year with its big jump in graphical performance over the previous Haswell series, support for more features, and excellent overclocking options, cementing Intel as the reigning king of CPUs.

“Intel really did a great job with the Skylake processors,” said Edward Chester, Computing Editor at TrustedReviews.

“Everyone  from gamers to casual users can count on the Skylake processors to deliver and at a reasonable price too.”

Commenting on the competition he added “AMD put out a great product in the Radeon R9 Fury Nano. It really impressed us by managing to pack great performance into a tiny design.

“As far as the GeForce GTX 980 Ti goes, its great price and monstrous power made it a real contender for this award.

“In the end, Skylake was a worthy winner in a really close category.”

Intel had not released a true update to its mainstream CPU line, the Haswell range, for two years before unleashing the Skylake range this year.

The new line of processors introduced a new chip design and support for more features such as Thunderbolt 3.

The Core i7-6700K and Core i5-6600K were the first to be released and were aimed at enthusiast users interested in overclocking.
