Insomniac’s next game, Song of the Deep, looks stunning

Insomniac Games has revealed the title and premise of its next game and it’s called Song of the Deep.

Although we can’t quite forget there’s also a new Ratchet and Clank coming out, Insomniac Games has also given us something else to get excited about.

Song of the Deep is a brand new IP built on the fantasy of what lives in the depths of the sea and it looks absolutely beautiful.

“It’s a world where everything is interactive in surprising ways. Where every new area has its own secrets and mysterious for you to discover,” explained Brian Hastings, CCO of Insomniac Games.

“The story is about love and heartbreak. It’s about going on a seemingly impossible journey to try to helps someone you love. It’s the journey of a girl named Merryn in a game we call Song of the Deep.”

Song of the Deep will see you exploring a huge underwater world using a submarine or free-diving, with a Metroidvania-style progression system.

You’ll be constantly evolving, gaining new abilities and working out how to use those skills to overcome puzzles and obstacles.

“it’s a challenging journey, designed to text your mind and your reflexes in equal amounts,” added Hastings.

Song of the Deep is coming to PS4 this summer, although no specific date has been announced as yet.
