The Arx Pax Hendo Hoverboard has been named Crowdfunded Project of the Year at the 2015 TrustedReviews Awards.
The futuristic device won in a tough category, which also saw the Beam Smart Projector and the E1 Interchangeable Lens Camera vying for the award.
Arx Pax’s Hendo Hoverboard caused a stir when it hit Kickstarter in October last year, promising a real hoverboard experience using conductive materials that serve as a secondary magnetic field.

Ater pro skater Tony Hawk took the prototype for a spin, excitement over the device only increased, with Arx Pax unveiling a second version of the hoverboard, designed with the help of Mr Hawk, on October 21 this year, i.e. Back to the Future day.
“You may not be able to ride it on any surface, but Arx Pax gave us a real working hoverboard and brought us a step closer to realising the full hoverboard dream,” said Evan Kypreos, TrustedReviews Editor.
“The original prototype was impressive enough but with version 2.0, the Hendo Hoverboard was improved in almost every way. It’s this commitment to innovation as well as creating something really cool, that won it for Arx Pax.”
The second generation Hendo Hoverboard introduced an improved power system, new USB connectivity, and a longer battery life, as well as a refined design which more closely mimicked a skateboard.
The Beam Smart Projector, which turns any flat surface into a big screen and screws into any light socket, and E1 Camera, with its interchangeable lenses and great low-light performance, just missed out on the top prize.
“This was a tough category,” added Evan. “The crowdfunded project section was really interesting because of all the innovative ideas. All the projects nominated were incredible, but the Hendo Hoverboard appeals to the Marty McFly in all of us and came just at the right time.”
