We’re excitedly waiting to get our hands on the
Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime and a new video posted by Nvidia has whetted our
appetite even more as it shows the new tablet running Android Ice Cream
When Asus officially launched the Transformer Prime earlier
this month one of the disappointments was that the new tablet would be shipping
with Android Honeycomb, rather than the latest version. Asus did however
promise that ICS would be coming to the tablet and this new video shows what it
will look like when it does arrive.
The demo isn’t all that exciting but does show off some of
the new features of Ice Cream Sandwich, including transition effects when
switching between app and widget menus, the new app folder capability, and most
impressive of all, 1080p Full HD video playback.
The video playback, which looks pretty decent, will of course be helped by the quad-core
Tegra 3 chip inside the Transformer Prime. The power of Tegra 3 is also shown
off by a game called Rip Tide which uses all four cores of the processor to create
beautiful water effects.
The Transformer Prime with keyboard dock will set you back
£499 when it does arrive in the UK in January and while it will ship in the US
with Android 3.2 next month, by the time it reaches the UK we may be getting
ICS out of the box. Fingers crossed.
