Ok, so we didn't get confirmation of the T-Mobile iPhone deal which the Rheinische Post promised yesterday but new info suggests the paper was just premature (I've heard it had that problem) not incorrect...
On Sunday the iPhone's system restore image was successfully stripped out and uploaded to the Internet, something in itself which isn't that interesting, but it did enable hackers to start getting to work on it and now they've uncovered something very interesting for European customers.
Deep within the device's system files members of Hackintosh have found the following files:
Of course the first two relate to exclusive US carrier AT&T (which recently rebranded from Cingular) but with T-Mobile USA out of the picture the other two can only correspond to European agreements (even if I hear there is a Vodafone network in Australia – get real).
So we are surely within touching distance now of saying the cat is out of the bag. There's not one but two separate reports of T-Mobile and Vodafone's distribution deals and no formal denials from Apple. So Apple can we just have the confirmation already? Sheesh, it's as embarrassing as Google pretending it isn't building an Windows toppling online OS piece by piece in front of Microsoft's nose...
