Humax’s new H3 Espresso media player lets you stream live TV

Humax has announced its new H3 Espresso Smart Media Player, which allows users to stream content in Full HD from services such as Netflix, as well as live TV without the need for an aerial.

The device works in the much the same way as Roku or Fire TV, connecting to your home network either wirelessly or through an ethernet connection, and plugging into your TV via an HDMI port.

Pre-installed apps include Netflix, YouTube and TVPlayer, the latter of which provides access to live TV without the need for an aerial connection.

Humax provides a two month subscription to this live TV service as part of the deal, giving you access to more than 55 free-to-air channels, as well as an additional 25 popular video-on-demand channels, including Comedy Central, Nickelodeon, Discovery, Eurosport 1 and Eurosport 2, and National Geographic Channel.

And if you’ve managed to amass your own library of content, the H3 Espresso allows you to view apps and media files stored on your network-connected devices – such as smartphones, tablets, or laptops.

The device also lets you use your iOS and Android devices as a digital remote control using the HUMAX CAST App.

Plus, if you’ve got a Humax FVP-4000T Freeview Play set-top box, the H3 can access stored recordings which can then be played back on the TV the device is connected to.

You can also use the H3 to watch live TV via one of the FVP-4000T’s three tuners, and there’s the ability to connect up to four H3 devices to create a multi-room setup.

Graham North, Vice President of Sales at Humax, said: “This innovative Smart Media Player represents yet another technology breakthrough from Humax.

“Ideal as a stand-alone streaming device, or in partnership with the Humax Freeview Play PVR range, the H3 Espresso delivers a seamless and easy-to-use solution for multi-room TV viewing.

“This ingenious OTT device also gives customers access to the recently-launched HUMAX EYE HD Cloud Camera via the integrated app, for convenient home monitoring on the big screen.”

The H3 Espresso is available for £79.99 from Currys, John Lewis, Euronics (CIH), Maplin, Hughes, independent electrical stores and Humax Direct.
