Huawei Watch release date could be just around the corner

Despite being announced at MWC back in March, the Huawei Watch still hasn’t arrived on store shelves.

In fact, we don’t even have a definitive release date for the long-awaited wearable. That could change very soon, however.

That’s because Huawei’s smartwatch has now passed through the United States’ FCC certification process.

Companies have to get electronic products approved before being allowed to peddle the goods in the country, and this usually takes place once a product is finished.

As such, Huawei could be planning an imminent release for the Huawei Watch, despite having made no public announcements regarding a launch.

Fortunately, we’ve heard rumours that Huawei is gearing up to release its smartwatch in September or October, although we’d say the former is more likely now.

So what can we expect to see from the Huawei Watch? Well for starters, it’s going to run Google’s Android Wear operating system.

It’s set to feature a 400 x 400 pixel resolution with a 286 ppi pixel density, and measure at 42mm in diameter.

The casing is built from stainless steel, and will ship in gold, silver, and black colour options.

Powering the device will be Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 400 chipset. That’ll be paired with 512MB of RAM.

As a result of the FCC visit, we also now know that there’ll be a 300mAh battery inside, and support for 802.11n Wi-Fi will be on offer.

UK pricing is still a ystery unfortunately, although the US version is rumoured to start at $386, which translates to roughly £250. That’s still cheaper than the £299 Apple Watch Sport.
