Huawei to unveil new flagship phone on September 4

Huawei has an IFA-based treat in store, with the Chinese manufacturer confirming its next flagship phone will be unveiled on September 4.

It what is shaping up to be a busy week for high profile phone launches, Huawei has released a teaser image (below), with the outline of a mysterious phone accompanied by the September 4 date.

With the outline of the teased handset appearing to form the number 7, it has been suggested that the upcoming device will be either the Huawei Ascend Mate 7 or the Huawei Ascend D7. Little else is revealed on the device through the teaser image, aside for a seriously slim line form factor that looks set to echo the existing, 6.5mm thick, Huawei Ascend P7.

With Huawei having recently teased a development device with a 2K display, it has been suggested that the upcoming IFA announcement could see the Chinese maker go one step beyond the QHD screen packing LG G3.

Tipped to boast a 6-inch panel, further rumours have claimed that Huawei’s next high-end handset will be powered by a Kirin 920 octa-core processor and 3GB of RAM.

Although a September 4 unveiling looks set to see the Huawei handset miss the scrum of iPhone 6 launch coverage later the same month, it appears the phone will be unveiled the day after both the Sony Xperia Z3 and Samsung Galaxy Note 4 enter the realms of reality.
