Huawei’s Honor 7i swivelling rear camera takes your selfies too

Huawei’s spin-off Honor brand is a great opportunity for the Chinese company to experiment. Enter, the Honor 7i.

The Honor 7i is the latest flagship smartphone from the firm, and has one particularly standout feature.

The rear-facing camera actually doubles as the front-facing camera too.

That impressive feat is managed thanks to a swivel hinge that lets the back camera flip up and handle selfies.

It’s such a simple solution, but it comes with some serious advantages.

For a start, it’s great for Honor because it saves them the manufacturing cost of a second camera.

But it’s good for consumers too, because it means your selfies will be taken by a high-quality 13-megapixel sensor.

What’s more, the flash is also built onto the swivel module, so you can snap quality pics of your face even when it’s dark.

Typically, smartphones offer up poor quality selfies thanks to less-than-impressive front-facing cameras. But not with the Honor 7i.

Another unique feature of the Honor 7i is that the fingerprint scanner is on the side.

Generally, biometric sensors appear on either the front or back of the device, so it’s another neat quirk from a fledgling smartphone company.

Otherwise, it’s a fairly standard upper mid-range affair.

The Honor 7i features a 5.2-inch Full HD screen, a Snapdragon 616 processor, 2GB/3GB of RAM, and 16GB/32GB storage options.

It’s available to buy immediately, but it’s only launching in China for now – expect to pay around £160.
