Huawei is just about to launch its first own-branded Android device in the UK this week, the Huawei Blaze, but the Chinese company is planning  on launching a more premium-orientated handset in the coming months.

Huawei has announced the Honor smartphone which looks a lot like the Samsung Galaxy S II and iPhone 4 but it will hopefully cost a lot less than either of these two leading smartphones.

The device will pack a 4in FWVGA screen (480x854) and will be powered by a 1.4GHz processor of, so far, unknown provinence. What could set this beast apart however is the claim from Huawei that the Honor will have a three day battery life on a single charge.

This is down in part to the large 1900mAh battery which is one area where we wish more manufacturers would pay attention to and bring longer battery life, rather than giving us a few more pixels or Hz.

The Huawei Honor has an 8 megapixel camera on the rear with a 2 megapixel on the front. It will run Android 2.3.5, have 512MB of RAM and 4GB of ROM expandable up to 32GB via SD card.

The DNLA-certified handset, which will initially come in Classic Black, is due to land in Asia-Pacific, China, Russia and the Middle East in Q4.

Huawei has not said where else it will be launched but we hope it will arrive in the UK in time for Christmas, when other colours will also be launched.

With ZTE also looking to make a mark in the UK smartphone market, with its own-branded Skate, Huawei will be hoping that its low price will entice customers away from the more well-known brands.
