Huawei and Google bring gold Nexus 6P to the US

Huawei, the maker of the Google-branded Nexus 6P phone, has announced that an attractive gold version of the hit Android Marshmallow handset is coming to the US.

The matte-gold iteration, previously exclusive to India and Japan, can now be snapped up from the Google Store alongside the aluminium, graphite and frost colours.

The device is priced just the same, from $499 with free shipping and a three months of free access to Google Play Music for new subscribers.

At the time of writing, it appears only Statesiders will benefit from the expanded availability. We’ve reached out to Google for more information on whether it’s soon to come to the UK.

The Nexus 6P Android phone is certainly a hit at the moment, earning a rare 10/10 score from TrustedReviews following our tests.

With a 5.7-inch QHD AMOLED display, super-loud front-facing speakers, a slim design and a fingerprint sensor on the rear of the device, it represents a return to form for the Nexus line, alongside the LG-made Nexus 5X.

As well as being one of the few devices currently running Android 6.0 Marshmallow, it also has a great 12-megapixel camera with larger 1.55µm pixels and the Qualcomm 810 v2.1 processor.

It’s also one of the only devices on the market to adopt the new USB Type-C charging and connectivity standard.

We’ll update this story when Google lets us know if and when the new hue will be arriving on UK soil.
