HTC teases new phone launch for September 6, could it be the A9?

HTC Sept 6 tease

Troubled smartphone giant HTC has teased the launch of a new handset this weekend, which could well be the firm’s oft-rumoured HTC One A9.

In a post on the Chinese social network Weibo, the Taiwanese firm is seemingly promising a mobile related handset for September 6.

Judging by Google Translate’s interpretation (via GSM Arena), the launch will involve a “superior handsome” device that has “simpler colour value” and “the strength to fight bias,” whatever all that means.

Earlier this year, HTC CEO Cher Wang said the firm is planning to launch a ‘hero handset’ to follow on from the poorly received HTC One M9.

According to recent reports that phone could be the HTC One A9 (codenamed Aero), which would be a brand new range for the company.

Leaks have suggested the device will come packing the ten core MediaTek Helio X20 chipset. A 1,400 x 2,560 display with curved edges could also be on the cards as well as 4GB of RAM and a rear camera that supports RAW format photos.

It is thought the A9 will arrive with a design ethos not too dissimilar from the iPhone 6 Plus.

HTC could make some seriously great mid-range devices. Cameras clearly aren't there game and Samsung, Apple, and LG all own the flagship market as it is. Instead of continuously throwing millions at a flagship that won't do well, HTC should really focus on designing beautiful, practical mid-range devices that give great value AND an amazing design.
Of course, I'm no expert.

Having used a friends M9 I can confidently say (along with many reviews) that the camera isn't as bad as it used to be due to some very well judged software updates. No, it's not G4 or GS6 quality yet, but it's a damn sight closer than it was when launched.

That's good to hear as I love HTC's designs. Well, their flagship designs. They don't seem to put nearly as much detail or attention into their mid-range devices which disappoints me. The Desire Eye was a good looking phone but that was practically the only good looking Desire.
