HTC Sense 5 coming to HTC One X and more in next few months

HTC has confirmed that its new Sense 5 UI will be coming to some of its phones – including the HTC One X – over the coming months.

This news was confirmed over on the official HTC Facebook page. When asked by a follower whether the new Sense 5 UI revealed with the HTC One would be coming to the HTC One X, the company responded in the affirmative.

“HTC will be offering upgrades to some of its existing devices in the next few months, including global variants of HTC One X, One X , One S and the HTC Butterfly” read the response.

However, the company also warned users to “note that some features enabled by the new HTC One hardware will not be available in the software updates.”

This is likely a reference to some of the new camera software elements that HTC has developed to accompany the HTC One’s unique triple-layer ‘UltraPixel’ camera.

In particular ‘Zoe’ will allow HTC One owners to shoot brief four second movies incorporating simultaneously shot high quality stills, which we doubt older handsets will be able to replicate even with a software upgrade.

HTC Sense 5
Still, HTC Sense 5 will be highly desirable to HTC One X and HTC One S owners. It represents a complete (and much-needed) overhaul of the dated Sense UI, with all-new flattened out icons and a more streamlined tab system.

Even the ‘iconic’ HTC clock widget has been dropped in favour of something altogether newer and classier. BlinkFeed will be the new focus – a Flipboard-like collage of news, Twitter and Facebook updates that turns your home screen into a single-glance overview of what’s going on.

Here’s hoping that HTC sticks to its ‘next few months’ claim and gets HTC Sense out to last year’s phones nice and sharp.
