HTC is hosting a media event in New York next month, it announced with an invite to the media on Wednesday.
The shindig will take place in on October 8, with the company teasing a ‘Double Exposure’ tagline within the invitation.
Given that HTC launched the HTC One (M8) with a dual-lens Duo Camera, the tagline would suggest the launch will be at least somewhat related to photography.
The invite also features two very similar-looking women (perhaps the same woman?) gazing into the HTC One (M8), which they’re both holding. So perhaps a new photo-focused handset or some new software features could be on the way?
Recent rumours have suggested HTC is also working on an 8.9-inch Nexus tablet codenamed Volantis. Even on Wednesday, chip maker Nvidia hinted the HTC Nexus 9 containing the new Tegra K1 processor would be arriving within weeks.
Considering Google likes to launch its own Nexus devices, we’d be surprised to see the Nexus 9 show up at a HTC-branded event.
Reports last week also claimed the HTC had decided to put off its entry into the smartwatch market, so it would be a surprise to see a wearable arrive on October 8 too.
We’ll keep you posted should anymore information come to light, but as of right now, this one is offering a rare element of mystery.
