HTC One to go on sale today, Phones 4u suggests

The HTC One will go on sale later today, just moments after the handsets is officially unveiled, latest reports have suggested.

With the HTC One widely expected to be formally unveiled at the company’s London based launch event at 3pm today, February 19, UK retailer Phones 4u has suggested that the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S3 and iPhone 5 rival will be made available for purchase later today.

“Phones 4u today confirmed that the exclusive event taking place at the flagship Oxford Street Phones 4u store today will feature the latest news from HTC,” an official spokesperson for the retailer has announced.

With the launch offering considerable disruption for the outlet’s leading high street presence, the company added: “The Oxford Street store has been completely blacked out, and a HTC countdown clock has been added to the store’s main window, providing a countdown until the official unveiling.”

The eagerly awaited HTC One is set to be the company’s new flagship Android device with the next-gen device to be tasked with reviving the Taiwanese company’s fortunes following a continuing fall in sales and profits.

HTC One Rumours

With HTC One branding having already appeared at a number of Champions League and Europa League football matches in the past weeks, the handset manufacturer has already started its promotional push for the device that will mark its biggest launch to date.

Tipped to be a true powerhouse of the smartphone market, the HTC One has been rumoured to feature a radical new 4-ultrapixel snapper, utilising improved pixel structure to offer more detailed, sharper images when shooting in low-light conditions.

Repeatedly leaked under the moniker of the HTC M7, the HTC One looks set to play host to a sleek aluminium body with a 4.7-inch 1080p Full HD display taking pride of place on the handset’s fore alongside stereo speakers and a second, forward-facing camera.

Offering further insight into the HTC One specs sheet, rumours have claimed the handset, which is being unveiled ahead of next week’s MWC 2013 conference, will host a 1.7GHz quad-core processor, 2GB of RAM and a hefty 32GB of internal storage.
