HTC One Max image leak reveals fingerprint scanner

Images have leaked suggesting that the forthcoming HTC One Max smartphone will come with a fingerprint scanner.

Reports recently emerged that the 5.9-inch HTC One Max would include fingerprint-scanning technology, and now one ePrice forum user appears to have the photographic evidence to back this up.

As you can see from the main picture above, the chunky HTC One Max has an extra opening on its rear surface, just below the camera. It appears to be a square-shaped gap for a touch panel of some sort.

Of course, that’s hardly conclusive, but a second picture showing the front of the HTC One Max (see below) most certainly is. It shows the drop-down settings toggle menu that users of Sense 5 on the HTC One range will be familiar with, but there’s an additional icon that they definitely won’t be.

Halfway down the screen there’s a fingerprint icon, which is strongly suggestive of a toggle to turn a fingerprint scanner on and off.

If true, the HTC One Max will likely join the iPhone 5S in implementing fingerprint scanning technology into a smartphone.

Other than this novel security measure, the HTC One Max is expected to come with a 5.9-inch 1080p display, a 2.3GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 CPU, 2GB of RAM and HTC’s UltraPixel camera technology.

It could also come with a microSD slot for memory expansion purposes, and an HTC Flyer-like stylus has also been mooted.

The first opportunity we’ll get to lay our eyes, hands, and quite possible fingers on the HTC One Max should be at next month’s IFA event in Berlin.
