HTC One M9 update rolling out in Europe
A major software update is rolling out to the HTC One M9 in Europe, bringing with it improvements to the camera and battery life.
The HTC One M9 has had a bit of a rough time of it this year, having been criticised for being too similar to the HTC One M8, as well as for its underwhelming camera.
One of those criticisms, at least, is being addressed by an update that’s made its way to Europe after hitting selected countries in Asia.
The headline feature of this new update is that it improves the One M9’s oft-derided camera. HTC claims that a new auto-exposure balance algorithm improves overall dynamic range, “so images appear more detailed and balanced, especially in bright light conditions.”
Other improvements made to the camera’s low-light performance means that such “images are clearer, detail is more apparent, and colours appear truer to life.”

Aside from the camera, this new HTC One M9 update also improves the phone’s battery life and charging capabilities. General improvements in this regard “reduce power consumption by YouTube, Facebook, and other popular social apps like Skype and Google Hangouts.”
Meanwhile the One M9 will now stay cooler while being charged.
As mentioned, HTC says that this update is rolling out to European One M9s right now, while North America will be receiving it “within the month.”
