HTC One M9 tipped to retain 5-inch 1080p display

The upcoming HTC One M9 will reportedly overlook the rise of QHD displays and instead retain the same 5-inch, 1080p panel found on its predecessor, latest reports have suggested.

Although the Taiwanese manufacturer has previously been tipped to echo the LG G3 and Samsung Galaxy Note 4 in adopting a 2K display, it has now been suggested HTC will instead bestow its future flagship phone with a more traditional Full HD screen.

The latest claims, which have surfaced courtesy of serial Twitter-based tipster @UpLeaks, have suggested that while the One M9 – a device also doing the rounds under the moniker of the HTC Hima – will retain a 5-inch panel, the phone’s overall dimensions will decrease.

According to the leaks, the One M9 will measure in at 144.3 x 69.4 x 9.56mm in size.

In contrast, the HTC One M8 is slightly slimmer but longer with an overall footprint of 146.4 x 70.6 x 9.4mm.

While it is currently unclear exactly how HTC has trimmed off these all important millimetres, slimmer bezels and a reworking of the company’s beloved BoomSound stereo speakers are looking likely options.

Offering further insight into the upcoming phone, @UpLeaks has also outed a range of expected HTC One M9 specs.

According to the reports, the handset will become one of the first devices to run the new Snapdragon 810 processor alongside 3GB of RAM and Google’s latest Android 5.0 Lollipop OS.

With a Xperia Z3 echoing 20.7-megapixel camera expected to feature on the M9’s rear, a secondary, 13-megapixel snapper has been tipped to sit up front.

With the HTC One M9 release date expected to be held in late March, the phone’s specs sheet will reportedly be rounded off by a 2840mAh battery and a new Sense 7.0 UI.
