HTC One M8 to be given Windows Phone makeover?

The Android-powered HTC One M8 will be given a Windows Phone makeover in the coming weeks, latest reports have suggested.

Currently rivalling the likes of the Samsung Galaxy S5 and the LG G3 for the crown of the most coveted Android handset, the high-end M8 looks set to be repackaged with a new Windows Phone filling for those not taken by Google’s mobile platform.

Expected to be a handset with a near identical array of innards to the existing Android M8, the Windows Phone running spinoff will reportedly launch by the end of September. Although no UK launch plans have yet been discussed, it has been claimed the phone will hit the US through the Verizon network.

Despite a stunning brushed metal finish and a premium array of specs, the upcoming handset will reportedly have a seriously clunky name – the HTC One M8 for Windows.

With the Windows Phone platform going through something of resurgence, following the recent jump to Windows Phone 8.1, an M8 spin-off would mark a serious coop for the still relatively small operating system. It would go head-to-head with the recently released Nokia Lumia 930.

Maintaining the Android phone’s dual-sensor camera and Boomsound stereo speakers, the M8 for Windows will also reportedly see the phone’s 5-inch 1080p display and Snapdragon 801 processor retained.

HTC has yet to offer any official comment on plans for a Windows powered M8.
