HTC One (M8) reportedly spied running Android 5.0 Lollipop

Screenshots allegedly showing the new Android 5.0 Lollipop software running on the flagship HTC One (M8) handset have emerged online.

The pictures, posted on Twitter by LlabTooFer on Wednesday, reportedly show Android 5.0 coupled with HTC’s custom Sense 6.0 UI for the very first time.

The screenshots show the Lock Screen, the new Recents View, the Quick Settings screen and the Notifications area.

If they’re genuine, and there’s really no cause to think otherwise, it seems that HTC has gone all-in on Google’s new Material Design with the update rather than rely too heavily on its own love-it-or-loathe-it interface.

While there’s still no definite news on when the top HTC handset will receive the update, the company promised it would be less than 90 days after it received the final code from Google.

That means it’ll be here by February 2 2015, at the latest, but these screenshots look far enough along to hope it will be sooner rather than later

Meanwhile, there’s good news for users rocking the HTC One (M8) Google Play Edition. Those devices will receive the update on Friday. That follows the launch for Nexus smartphones and tablets last week, while some Moto G users are also plying their mobile trade with Android 5.0.
