HTC One M10 camera may top Nexus 6P

HTC One M9

The HTC One M10 could lay on a similar camera experience to the Nexus 6P. In fact, it could be a little better.

Whatever you say about HTC's recent smartphones, the company certainly knows how to put a phone together. It led the way with all-metal Android phone designs way before Samsung jumped onboard.

One component it's never quite been able to master, however, is the smartphone camera. Even the HTC One M9, while decent, doesn't match up to the Samsung Galaxy S6, the LG G4, or the Nexus 6P on the photographic front.

According to a recent tweet from reliable HTC tipster LlabTooFeR‏, that's all set to change.

If that all looks like gibberish to you, allow us to break it down. The 12-megapixel Sony IMX377 image sensor with UltraPixels is the same component that can be found in Google's Nexus 6P and Nexus 5X. Both take excellent - if not quite class-leading -pictures

So how can we say that the HTC One M10 camera might be even better? A little further down, LlabTooFeR adds a vital snippet of info they forgot to mention: the HTC One M10 camera will come with OIS.

Optical Image Stabilisation is the one thing that was notably missing from the Nexus 6P camera. It still managed to get good low-light results thanks to its larger-than-average 1.55micron pixels, but OIS would likely have kicked it on another notch.

If these specs prove to be true, and HTC sorts out its camera software (really the big if here), the HTC One M10 could be right up there with the best.

In other recent news, the HTC One M10 may skip MWC 2016 for an April 11 launch in London.
