HTC has formally unveiled its latest flagship Android handset with the HTC One introducing a selection of new features including HTC BoomSound audio, HTC BlinkFeed and HTC Zoe camera functionality.
Tasked with correcting HTC fortunes and giving the Taiwanese company a device to rival the Samsung Galaxy S3 and iPhone 5, the HTC One will hit retailers next month with the newly unveiled device lining up as a considerable force on the smartphone scene, playing host to a 1.7GHz quad-core CPU and new UltraPixel camera.
“People today immerse themselves in a constant stream of updates, news and information,” Peter Chou, HTC CEO said. “Although smartphones are one of the main ways we stay in touch with the people and information we care about, conventional designs have failed to keep pace with how people are actually using them.”
He added: “A new, exciting approach to the smartphone is needed and with the new HTC One, we have re-imagined the mobile experience from the ground up to reflect this new reality.”
HTC One Specs
A true powerhouse of the smartphone scene, the HTC One builds on Google’s Android 4.1 Jelly Bean OS with the latest iteration of the HTC Sense UI. Introducing a selection of new functionality, the newly announced HTC One is the first device to come with HTC BlinkFeed, a feature which transforms the device’s home screen into a single live stream of content.
Offering local and global content from more than 1,400 media source, HTC BlinkFeed provides instant, up-to-date access to social media updates, entertainment and lifestyle alerts as well as news and photos on subjects of interest, customisable to each user.
With a zippy 1.7GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon quad-core processor running the show, the HTC One specs sheet is further bolstered by 2GB of RAM and the option of either 32GB or 64GB of internal storage. Playing host to HTC BoomSound dual front-facing stereo speakers with integrated amplifiers, the HTC One’s audio abilities are further enhanced by Beats Audio innards.
Lining up at just 9.3mm thick and a comfortable 143g in weight, the HTC One sports to a zero-gap aluminium unibody design which gives the device an aesthetically pleasing high-end finish
Set to land in both silver and black colour forms, the HTC One plays host to an expansive and vibrant 4.7-inch 1080p Full HD touchscreen display with the screen, similar in size to the Google Nexus 4, playing host to a hugely impressive 468 pixels-per-inch image density.
With the HTC One repeatedly leaked ahead of launch alongside a flurry of reports around a remodelled UltraPixel camera, the Taiwanese manufacturer has not disappointed with the 4.7-inch device lining up with a 1080p Full HD video recording capabilities alongside a HTC UltraPixel stills camera further bolstered by the new HTC Zoe features.
With the rear-mounted snapper boasting a f/2.0 lens, the UltraPixel sensor allows the handset to gather 300 per cent more light than traditional smartphone cameras, ensure pictures captured in low-light situations produce strong, sharp and vibrant results.
According to HTC, “HTC Zoe gives people the ability to shoot high-res photos that come to life in three-second snippets.”
The company added: “There Zoes, photos and videos are then displayed in a unique way that brings the gallery to life and transforms the traditional photo gallery of still images into a motion gallery of memories.”
With integrated Bluetooth 4.0 and NFC connectivity options, the HTC One specs sheet is rounded off by a 2300mAh Lithium-Polymer battery and LTE 4G services.
