HTC looks set to launch a ‘Facebook phone‘ of sorts, with the HTC Myst leaking online as a mid-range handset with the social network’s features at its core.
A seeming follow-on to the HTC ChaCha and HTC Salsa, a pair of basic Android handsets launched back in 2011 each with a dedicated Facebook button, new details of the HTC Myst have hit the web suggesting the device could be the previously leaked HTC Opera UL.
Reportedly set to run Google’s Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean OS, latest leaks have suggested that the mooted HTC Myst will come pre-installed with a raft of Facebook themed software and applications.
As well as allowing users to create and set Facebook statuses direct from the handset’s interface, it has been said that the device will play host to the newly revamped Facebook app as well as dedicated Facebook Messenger services. What’s more, giving user the full, up-front experience, it is expected the handset will come pre-loaded with Instagram, the photo sharing tool recently purchased by Facebook for $1 billion.
According to serial tech tipsters evleaks, the HTC Myst specs sheet will see the handset line up as a mid-range offering, with a 4.3-inch touchscreen display reportedly playing host to a 720p HD resolution and 320 pixels-per-inch image density.
Although neither HTC nor Facebook have yet to officially comment on the device, it has been suggested that the HtC Myst will further benefit from a 1.5GHz dual-core processor, 1GB of RAM and a fairly average 16GB of internal storage. With a 5-megapixel rear-mounted camera to line up alongside a 1.6-megapixel forward-facing option, the ‘Facebook phone’ is said to host Bluetooth 4.0 and Wi-Fi connectivity options alongside LTE 4G capabilities.
Although far from confirmed, the newly surfaced HTC Myst rumours have tipped a HTC Myst release date for spring, in the US at least. It is currently unclear when a potential UK launch might be held.
