The HTC One M8 should arrive on all major carriers by the end of Q1 2014, as the follow-up to the successful HTC One.
According to notorious and usually accurate tipster @evleaks, all major carriers will be stocking the HTC M8 early next year.
Evleaks did say all four major US carriers would stock the HTC M8 next year, but that doesn’t rule out UK markets, especially as the majority already stock the HTC One here.
The HTC M8 window would put a launch date somewhere between January and the end of March, but as of yet there is no narrower release window.
Earlier this month, HTC M8 pictures leaked online, revealing the design of the HTC One follow-on.
The pictures showed that the next HTC will have strong design influences from the HTC One and HTC One Max, but will have a cover made from a wraparound sheet of metal, rather than the sandwich style of its predecessors.
The UltraPixel camera remains in the same position in the rear of the device, but there’s now a rather unusual hole or lens above it.
It may be a fingerprint sensor similar to that situated below the camera on the HTC One Max, but it would be a rather awkward place to put one.
The HTC M8 case also has a rather blue-ish hue to it, unlike the original silver HTC One and One Max.
The pictures also came with the first indication of the HTC M8’s specs sheet. The HTC One’s successor, could offer a 5 – 5.2-inch screen with a 2K resolution, increasing the 4.7-inch display of the HTC One.
Similar to the Samsung Galaxy Note 3, the HTC M8 should pack a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor under the metal body with 3GB of RAM.
It will, of course, run the latest Sense 6 HTC UI over what we hope will be Android 4.4 KitKat.
HTC M8 is bound to be just a codename during the smartphone’s development, with an official name released later. The HTC One was called the HTC M7 before it was officially announced.
