HTC M7 release to be partnered with HTC M4 and G2

HTC M4 and HTC G2 models are to be launched alongside the HTC M7 at the HTC February 19 announcement events in New York and London, latest reports have suggested.

Whilst the HTC M4 is rumoured to be the mid range handset that will sit under the company’s new flagship HTC M7 offering, the HTC G2 is said to be a new entry-level Android option.

Specs released by Unwiredview have suggested the HTC M4 features will include a 1.2GHz dual-core Snapdragon procession with 2GB of RAM. Similar to the rumoured specs of the HTC M7, the HTC M4 will have a 4.3-inch screen offering a 720p resolution, but will only have half of the HTC M7’s storage with 16GB internally.

Both the HTC M7 and HTC M4 will have 13-megapixel rear cameras capable of shooting 1080p videos, with the latter model reportedly offering a slightly downgraded 1.6-megapixel front-facing camera. Allegedly, the HTC M4 release will see the mid-market handset play host to LTE 4G functionality where supported, and will come pre-packaged with a redesigned HTC Sense 5.0 UI and Android 4.2 Jelly Bean OS.

The entry-level HTC G2 is claimed to pack a 1.0GHz ARM Cortex processor with 512GB of RAM. Its screen could be a 3.5-inch HVGA, with the handset providing 4GB of internal storage expandable via microSD card.

A 5-megapixel rear-facing camera is rumoured for the HTC G2, but the front-facing doesn’t get a mention. According to latest reports, the HTC G2, not related to the previous handset of the same name, will be running Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich and should mirrored the HTC Golf in specs.

It has been suggested that the latest rumoured handsets will not launch with the HTC M7, instead being released around a month later, “sometime during the spring”. The HTC M7 however, should be shipping shortly after the February 19 HTC event, potentially before the month is out.
