HTC is prepping a new flagship Android phone for launch, new reports have suggested, with a rumoured HTC M7 release date pegged for early 2013.
Focus Taiwan claims that the HTC M7 is currently scheduled for a March 2013 launch, following a potential MWC 2013 unveiling, and that this projected release has led to an increase in the Taiwanese company’s share price.
The report says almost nothing about the device itself, but HTC Source claims to have unearthed some prospective specifications for the phone. It says it will feature a Qualcomm APQ8064 quad-core processor, 5-inch HD screen, 13-megapixel camera and a unibody aluminium shell. What’s more, it is believed that HTC is attempting to release it in the first quarter of 2013 in order to beat the Samsung Galaxy S4 (rumoured for an April 2013 launch) to market.
Arguably the most eagerly awaited Android smartphone, recent Samsung Galaxy S4 rumours have suggested that the Samsung Galaxy S3 follow-on could land sporting an unrivalled eight-core processor. Samsung is expected to forgo an MWC Samsung Galaxy S4 release date in favour of its own private event in the weeks that follow.
