HTC Desire EYE set to be exclusive to Three in the UK

Mobile network Three has claimed UK exclusivity on the newly-announced HTC Desire EYE selfie phone

The operator told Pocket-Lint it’ll be the only firm stocking the Desire EYE, although it appears to be a timed exclusive rather than a permanent stranglehold.

“Three is the only UK operator to offer the new HTC Desire Eye smartphone alongside the brand new RE handheld camera,” a network representative said.

A release date for both devices is yet to be confirmed.

The statement suggests Three will also sell the HTC RE camera – the periscope-shaped action camera – but it doesn’t seem like it has any sort of exclusive in that department.

The Desire EYE was the centrepiece of HTC’s Double Exposure event on Wednesday night.

Its key feature is the 13-megapixel front-facing camera, designed to allow users to produce even more selfies at a higher quality than experienced on most other smartphones on the market.

HTC has also bundled in a host of interesting software features which allows users to up their selfie game. Split Capture takes a photo with the front and rear-facing cameras at the same time, while Crop-Me-In places the user in the shot captured by the rear camera.
