HTC announces event, HTC 10 smartphone launch looks likely

We’ve known HTC has been up to something for a while – now it’s confirmed.

HTC has announced a launch event for what we can only assume is the HTC 10 smartphone.

The device has been rumoured for months, and finally looks set to appear in the coming days.

The event is scheduled to take place on Tuesday, April 12, and will kick off at the following times:

08:00 – New York
13:00 – London
20:00 – Taipei

Check out the invitation:

The image doesn’t reveal much, save for a #powerof10 caption, lending credence to the theory of an imminent HTC M10 launch.

We’re clueless as to the significance of the background image, but then phone makers’ teaser shots usually make no sense.

The HTC 10 – note, it’s expected not to be named HTC One M10 – is tipped to feature a Snapdragon 820 chip, a fingerprint scanner, a 12-megapixel UltraPixel camera, and a 3,000mAh battery.

It’s also rumoured that the device will boast a QHD resolution screen, and ship with Google’s latest Android 6.0 Marshmallow software on board.

However, last year’s HTC One M9 was tepidly received, so the pressure is on to turn out a formidable device this time around. That’s especially difficult considering Samsung’s rival Galaxy S7 is already arriving to stellar reviews.
